General Factsheet 11/04/24

"Our history is intimately connected with the most terrible injustices of the last 40 years. It would not be complete without mentioning the amazing people who have helped us and the fraternity that exists even under the worst possible conditions. It is this mutual support that motivates us to carry on and provide tangible, practical solutions to problems made possible by the help of local communities and the spirit of solidarity. This has never failed us: in every culture and part of the world, families never give up. It is our duty and our responsibility to do the same." —Jean-Baptiste Richardier, Co-Founder of HI

Emergencies Factsheet 11/04/24

A humanitarian disaster can take many forms: earthquakes, droughts, floods, tsunamis, or conflicts. They often strike without warning and almost always disproportionately affect people with disabilities. Humanity & Inclusion’s emergency response teams act on the ground to assist people with disabilities, people displaced or injured by conflicts or disasters, and other individuals experiencing crises. The uniqueness of HI's approach is our capacity to rapidly offer a variety of responses, from meeting the most essential needs en masse to providing an adapted response to particular needs.

Explosive Weapons Factsheet 11/04/24

When explosive weapons are used in populated areas, a shocking 90% of casualties are civilians. The death toll keeps on rising as violence escalates in places like Ukraine and Gaza. When conflict ends, these explosive remnants of war remain a threat to communities for decades to come. They pollute soil and water sources. Homes, health facilities, schools, and roads remain littered with unexploded ordnance that can detonate at any moment. Explosive weapons, including landmines and cluster munitions, kill and injure civilians in countries all around the world during active conflict and decades after fighting ends.

Inclusive Education Factsheet 11/04/24

Worldwide, more than 32 million children living with disabilities do not go to school. These children are denied their fundamental right to learn and are 10 times less likely to attend school than children without disabilities. This unjust exclusion limits their opportunities to acquire the skills they need to reach their full potential and participate in their communities, perpetuating a cycle of poverty. A high-quality, inclusive education generates real hope for the future of so many children. That’s why inclusive environments play a pivotal role in tackling the stigma against people with disabilities. At Humanity & Inclusion, we acknowledge the role education plays in bringing global peace and sustainable development to communities worldwide.
